If you try to take this shell apart and damage it in any way there will be NO REFUND OR REPLACEMENT so do so at your own risk!
Because of the materials and automated manufacturing used for these new shells, the screw posts can be tight, making disassembly more difficult. Use care when opening the shell. I strongly recommend watching the instructional video on my YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/@vhsislife) where I explain this in detail.
If the center post is tight, do not bend or pull on the shell—this will crack or break it. If the center post does break, it’s not a major issue; that post isn’t required for the tape to function and won’t affect long‑term use.
Please also note that 1/2″ VHS magnetic media hasn’t been manufactured since 2004. Although the tape inside is unused “virgin” stock from original suppliers, it is still 20+ years old. You may experience squeaking, static, dropouts, artifacts, or tracking issues during recording or playback. Refunds or exchanges will not be offered for media quality problems or for shells damaged during disassembly.
These shells should be considered novelty collectibles made to support the VHS hobby, not professionally manufactured products intended for commercial movie or media releases.
If you want to return the shells for a refund (less original shipping cost) you must do so in their original condition with no physical damage, no recording on the tape, and at your own expense per the “Terms and Conditions” page.
